I gave this quite a bit of play today. So much so, in fact, that I’ve now finished the whole of the first season of Career Mode, without losing a single match (of which there were about 50), coming top of the Championship, winning the England Cup, and the Community Shield (or Cup or Trophy, or whatever). Disappointingly, the Cup Final was (unrealistically) against Yeovil. Tch. I was expecting Liverpool or Arsenal or something. I’m now in the Premiership. I …
Still plugging through Career Mode. Played about 5 or 6 matches today, and won them all. The only one that gave me any concern was the 4th Round (I think) “English Cup” tie against Newcastle United. Neither side had scored by 40 minutes in, and they’d been playing much better than me overall. Thankfully, I got two in before half-time, and then went on to win 5-0.
Plowed through some more Career Mode matches, facing Luton, Leicester, Leeds and some others. Still haven’t lost any matches, although somehow one of my two (bizarrely, consecutive) matches with Leicester ended up as a 0-0 draw. It was especially strange as I’d already beaten them 6-0 with ease.
Played anohter six or so matches in Career Mode today. Didn’t have any trouble wiping the floor with such teams as Sheffield Wednesday, Southhampton and Wolverhampton. They were all easy enough to beat. Scores were of the rang 6-0 to 11-0. Easy. I’ve gained a “Prestige” star too, now. When you get one, you can bump up your player stats in a chosen area. I picked Strength and Fitness, so I hope I can get a bit more stamina out …
Played just one match this evening as my DS battery keeled over. I can’t remember who I was playing, actually, but I won anyway. Didn’t win by the huge margins I had previously on other matches, with the score at 5-3 at full time. They seemed to be much better at taking the ball off me than other teams had been.
Yes, I’m playing FIFA again. I think I may be ill, or something. I don’t generally like football games at the best of times (except for PES4 recently, and Sensible Soccer forever), not least FIFA titles as they’re all crap, but for some reason I’m enjoying this. Oh my. I’ve bought a FIFA game. Worse, I’ve bought one and played it. Worse still, I played it for an hour and enjoyed it. Wrongness! Had a single game of this tonight, with me playing France vs Turkey. I never have been a big sports game fan, although Sensible Soccer is amazing and PES4 on the Xbox and FIFA ’06 on the DS both got quite a bit of play. And this is pretty good too.
